Apartment Fire in Wilkins Twp

At 15:38 Station 302 (Wilkins #1), 122 Engine (Churchill), and 303 Truck (Wilkins #3) were alerted for smoke coming from an apartment building in the 100-blk of Briaridge Dr, Wilkins Twp. Police arrived onscene just after dispatch and reported a working apartment fire in the building. With this update 302 Chief added 304 Engine (Wilkins #4), and 283 Engine (Turtle Creek) to the assignment but shortly after called a full 2nd Alarm which brought 207 Engine (North Braddock), 113 Engine (Braddock), 153 Truck, and 230 RIT (Pitcairn) to the scene also. First arriving crews quickly stretched a line to begin extinguishing the fire. Additional companies arrived and assisted with extinguishment, overhaul, and ventilation, including 153 Truck who's crew went to the roof in case it needed to be vented. During the fire additional companies were requested to the scene for additional manpower including 192 Quint (Monroeville 1), and 137 RIT (Edgewood). The fire was contained to 1 apartment and under control in just under 1 hour. 153 equipment returned after operating for 90 minutes. The Allegheny County Fire Marshall is investigating.

Shortly after 6 PM on Tuesday, 153 Engine was alerted for a vehicle fire around the 1500 block of Ardmore Boulevard. Crews marked en-route almost immediately and arrived to find a working car fire. 153 Engine pulled a hand line and extinguished the fire.

A little after 2 AM 153 Rescue responded to a vehicle rollover at the intersection of Ardmore Blvd and Bevington Road. Crews arrived to find that the patient self extricated and assisted the towing company with cleanup.

At 06:05 this morning Station 120 (Chalfant), 153 Engine and 303 Truck (Wilkins #3) were alerted for a possible apartment fire in the 300-blk of Lynnwood Ave, Chalfant. As units were marking up PD and EMS arrived onscene and reported nothing showing.

On Wednesday at 15:49 stations were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 200-blk of Dorothy St, Wilkins Twp. With a crew in station 153 engine went enroute immediately after dispatch. The Engine and 303 Truck arrived to find a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling fully involved.

At approximately 0015 hours, Edgewood VFD was alerted for smoke in the area of Pennwood Avenue. EVFD arrived on scene to find heavy fire blowing out of the second floor and requested a second alarm, including 153 Truck.

At approximately 1545 hours, crews were alerted for a reported house fire on Croft Court in Churchill. 153 Truck arrived on scene shortly after 122 Rescue and started setting up for aerial operations. Interior crews extinguished the fire within minutes of arrival.

At 21:11 Station 207 (North Braddock), 113 Engine (Braddock), 153 Truck, and 135 RIT (East McKeesport) were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 300-blk of Benton St, North Braddock. All companies went enroute and when 207 Engine arrived they found the roof had already collapsed.

Crews from the Forest Hills Fire Department responded with departments from Braddock, North Braddock, Braddock Hills, Edgewood, Swissvale and Rankin to multiple calls throughout Forest Hills and the neighboring area for Carbon Monoxide detectors going off.

At 21:57 Station 207 (North Braddock) was alerted for a smoke investigation in the 900-blk of 6th St, North Braddock. Less than 2 minutes after dispatch the 911 center advised they were receiving multiple calls for a house on fire on Benton St and the assignment was upgraded.
