Volunteers Assist Churchill with a 2 Alarm Fire

At 08:55 Station 122 (Churchill), 153 Engine, 302 Engine (Wilkins Twp #1), 303 Truck (Wilkins Twp #3), and 137 RIT (Edgewood) were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 100-blk of Kings Dale Rd, Churchill. 122 Chief arrived and found heavy fire from the rear of the structure that was already starting to burn through the roof. 122 Rescue and 137 Rescue arrived and advanced lines to attack the fire. 153 Engine secured a hydrant and laid into 122 Rescue upon their arrival. 303 Truck and 302 Engine arrived and assist with initial fire ground operations. With heavy fire from the roof and initial issues with the water supply 122 Chief requested a 2nd Alarm. This brought 207 Engine (North Braddock), 304 Engine (Wilkins Twp #4), 225 Truck (Penn Hills #5), 227 Engine (Penn Hills #7), 135 RIT (East McKeesport), and 196 RIT (Monroeville #6) all to the scene. After pulling crews out of the building to resolve the water issue a majority of the fire was knocked down from the outside and crews returned interior to finish extinguishment. The fire was placed under control in 90 minutes but 153 units operated for over 4 hours performing overhaul and packing up equipment. The Allegheny County Fire Marshall is investigating.

Shortly after 6 PM on Tuesday, 153 Engine was alerted for a vehicle fire around the 1500 block of Ardmore Boulevard. Crews marked en-route almost immediately and arrived to find a working car fire. 153 Engine pulled a hand line and extinguished the fire.

A little after 2 AM 153 Rescue responded to a vehicle rollover at the intersection of Ardmore Blvd and Bevington Road. Crews arrived to find that the patient self extricated and assisted the towing company with cleanup.

At 19:12 303 Truck (Wilkins #3), 302 Engine (Wilkins #1), and 153 Engine were alerted for smoke coming from a dwelling in the 100-blk of Quarry St, Wilkins Twp. Soon after dispatch police arrived and reported fire showing from the attic.

At 06:05 this morning Station 120 (Chalfant), 153 Engine and 303 Truck (Wilkins #3) were alerted for a possible apartment fire in the 300-blk of Lynnwood Ave, Chalfant. As units were marking up PD and EMS arrived onscene and reported nothing showing.

On Wednesday at 15:49 stations were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 200-blk of Dorothy St, Wilkins Twp. With a crew in station 153 engine went enroute immediately after dispatch. The Engine and 303 Truck arrived to find a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling fully involved.

At approximately 0015 hours, Edgewood VFD was alerted for smoke in the area of Pennwood Avenue. EVFD arrived on scene to find heavy fire blowing out of the second floor and requested a second alarm, including 153 Truck.

At approximately 1545 hours, crews were alerted for a reported house fire on Croft Court in Churchill. 153 Truck arrived on scene shortly after 122 Rescue and started setting up for aerial operations. Interior crews extinguished the fire within minutes of arrival.

At 21:11 Station 207 (North Braddock), 113 Engine (Braddock), 153 Truck, and 135 RIT (East McKeesport) were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 300-blk of Benton St, North Braddock. All companies went enroute and when 207 Engine arrived they found the roof had already collapsed.

Crews from the Forest Hills Fire Department responded with departments from Braddock, North Braddock, Braddock Hills, Edgewood, Swissvale and Rankin to multiple calls throughout Forest Hills and the neighboring area for Carbon Monoxide detectors going off.

At 21:57 Station 207 (North Braddock) was alerted for a smoke investigation in the 900-blk of 6th St, North Braddock. Less than 2 minutes after dispatch the 911 center advised they were receiving multiple calls for a house on fire on Benton St and the assignment was upgraded.
