It is true; all councilpersons received a letter to their homes on June 18, 2013 from an attorney representing the FHVFD. It is also true that we, the FHVFD, did in fact investigate the merging of these two departments.

In 2011 borough council had to come up with a way to pay for the ladder truck they had purchased to protect the residents of Forest Hills. They had only accounted for 5 years worth of payments in a bond issue.

Its the time of the year where the Forest Hills VFD teams up with the Swissvale Police to raise money for the Special Olympics by jumping in the freezing waters of the Allegheny River. This years plunge will be held on Sat Dec 14th at Heinz Field.

Last year 4 of our members joined the Swissvale Police team in the Polar Plunge to help raise donations for the Special Olympics. This year with dozens of members willing to participate the FHFD is once again joing forces with the Swissvale Police to raise money for the Special Olympics.

On Sunday morning 5 members of our Dept as well as 1 from neighboring Braddock (Station 113) jumped in the Allegheny River as members of the Swissvale Police Polar Bear Plunge Team. Each person plunging collects donations that are given to the Special Olympics.

On 3/31/11 at 4:41 am a fire call from a first floor tenant came in to a residential building at 528 Ogden Ave, Forest Hills. On arrival at 4:52, the first floor tenant advised the fire department of possible entrapment on the 2nd floor.
