Pittsburgh Post Gazette Letter to the Editor
Saturday, January 25th, 2014

Thank you for recognizing us Janet Wangler, Juniper Village.

Letter to the editor/East: Forest Hills fire, police, ambulance service thanked
January 23, 2014 12:00 AM

In this new year, the staff and residents of Juniper Village at Forest Hills would like to express our utmost gratitude for the tireless service provided during 2013 by the Forest Hills Volunteer Fire Department, the Forest Hills Police Department and Priority One Ambulance Service. These public service departments responded to emergencies quickly and offered assistance whenever possible, especially when the health of a resident was at risk.

We also thank the people and businesses of Forest Hills who donated items to our annual food drive. This year, more than 128 pounds of food were collected and $350 donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

We at Juniper Village know it takes a village to live a full life. People need each other’s company and support, and often they need each other’s assistance and generosity for daily survival.

Again, we cannot thank you enough. We look forward to our continued participation in the Forest Hills community and providing the best care possible for its elderly residents.

JANET WANGLER

Forest Hills

The writer is executive director of Juniper Village at Forest Hills.

~~Agenda ItemsEach and every month the Public Safety Chairman has a list on the public safety committee agenda. It was redundant for most of 2013 and was brought to everyone’s attention at committee meetings and at each council meeting.

In light of the recent events, numerous residents have approached the Forest Hills Volunteer Fire Department (FHVFD) and questioned whether or not they should pay their 2014 Fire Protection Service Fee.

----- At the Committee meetings last Thursday, January 9, 2014, Mr. Tomasic told an outright lie. He publicly said that at the two meetings with the FHVFD representatives it was never said that the FHVFD was NOT merging but in fact that we had said that YES we were going ahead with the merger.
We have reviewed the information distributed to residents either at last Monday's meeting or have been picked up at the borough building. We don't dispute that all of these documents are in fact correct as they relate to the FHVFD.
